Edmond was married three times:

  1. Zrellda Heatherly, 1847 - she died in 1848 (childbirth?)
  2. Temperance M. Fort, 1850ish - she died in 1865

Edmond S Runnels was born in about 1817 in Mississippi. He was the son of Hardin Dudley Runnels and Martha Patsy Burch Darden. He was a slave owner from 1840 to 1860. He brought his slaves from Mississippi to Bowie County Texas. Were he became a wealthy land owner and highly involved with politics carrying on his father's works.

He married first married Temperance Fort from another prominent family in Bowie County and they had three children. Temperance died at a young age and Edward remarried to Saluda Callahan, they had four children. His death and burial are unknown.
