Note N434Byron Ruple was a grandson of Emanuel Ruple the ancestor of all Claiborne Parish, LA Ruple family members. Byron and wife Inez lived in the Ruple homestead, and next door to what used to be the Ruple, LA Post Office and General Store,. 1
The Family donated land for the Ruple High School and Ruple Baptist Church, the latter which currently still exists in this Community. Byron collecte much Ruple family history and passed it along to Jack Ruple for inclusion in The Ruple Family in America and its Germanic Heritage, publ. 1988, Little Rock, AR and available from the LDS church library on fiche. That book has been updated with Swiss heritage of this family - the Swiss name was Roppel, and the family hailed from Fuellinsdorf, BL, Switzerland and emigrated to the US in 1772. 1
Then, Martin Roppel, wife, Barbara Schaub of Wittinsburg, BL, CH, and two children, John J. and Elisabeth Roppel arrived in Dec. of 1772 and later settled in Orangeburgh Dist, SC just SE of Orangeburg, SC on the Charleston Road. They lived in Ruple's Tavern shown on 1820 Mills' Atlas of Orangeburgh Dist, SC. (Jack Ruple 2010).
