Maria Margaretha (Ruppel) Wittmann was a Volga German.
Maria Margaretha (Ruppel) Wittmann has German Roots.
Family #75 in the 1857 Grimm census.
She was the wife of Johann Michael Wittmann. He died before 1850, but his wife was probably still living. The most likely scenario is that she remarried and was living with her second husband and his family. Her boys were old enough to allow them to continue living with their father's family.
If she, too, was deceased, she may have fell victim to the cholera pandemic that swept across Russia between 1846 and 1860, killing more than 1 million people.
