August Georg Rusch was born about 1755, probably in Wulkenzin, Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Germany, the documented place of baptism for his older brother.
August Georg and his family were among the first settlers of Grimm, Russia, as notes in the 1767 Grimm Census. Despite knowing this, the family does not appear in the Kulberg List of German immigrants to Russia,
nor do they appear in the Transportation List that documents the travelers from Saint Petersburg to the Volga region of Russia.
