Mary was born in 1868. Mary Rush ... She passed away in 1916.
Mary Lucy Elisabeth Rush was orphaned while the family was moving to Texas from AR. I am not aware of the name of the family that took her in and raised her. We believe she had a brother. Both of them had red hair. Richard Griffin fell in love with her the first time he saw her. They were married 27 Jan 1884 in Coryell Co TX.
Working on proving or ruling out this "Eliza" as Mary Lucy Elizabeth: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MNCJ-7XT : 12 April 2016), Liza Rush in household of David Rush, Arkansas, United States; citing p. 19, family 135, NARA microfilm publication M593 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.); FHL microfilm 545,565.
I'm also strongly considering Samuel H Rush ( Rush-2338 ) as a potential father for Mary Lucy Elizabeth, but I don't yet have any record of him after 1860. ~ Elizabeth Price ~
One Family Tree lists Shadrick Rush ( Rush-2799 ) as Mary's father, and there is some evidence to support this but it goes against the family's story that Mary was orphaned as a child. Though perhaps she was simply abandoned instead of orphaned.
DNA evidence links descendants of Mary with descendants of Jacob Rush ( Rush-2226 ) but it's still unclear where the connection lies.
