Alexander was born in 1843. He passed away in 1928. Alexander is buried at the Mount Carmel Cemetery, Sidney, Sharp County, Arkansas. On May 15, 1861, he enlisted in the Confederate Army at Ripley, Tennessee as a Private in Company G, 4th Regiment, Tennessee Infantry. November 23, 1863 he was in the Battle of Missionary Ridge, where he was wounded by gun shot. He was captured and became a Prisoner of War, Feb. 1, 1864 interned at Rock Island, Ill. staying there until March 6, 1865. He was then sent to City Point, Virginia for exchange. He married Amanda Buchanan on Nov. 4, 1866.
