Mathew Rushing was born in North Carolina around 1750,[1][2] lived in Beaufort District, Saint Peters Parish, S. C.[3] and was a farmer. [4][5][6]
He was a patriot in the Revolutionary War, having served 21 days. Mathew filed claim against the State of S. C., claim 657, Book N. The claim paid 9 pounds, 17 shillings and 2 pence sterling for 500 Troy weight of beef for Militia and hire of a horse for the Militia 1780-1782.
He was married to Elizabeth Thornhill around 1783.
On 18 Oct 1810, Mathew Rushing was granted a passport for himself, his wife and seven children to travel through the Creek Nation of Indians from the Beaufort District, South Carolina. [7]
Mathew died circa 1815 in Effingham County, Georgia
