Biography

Beulah was born in 1895 in Union County, North Carolina. Her Delayed Birth record identifies her father as Reason W Rushing.[1] However, on the 1900 Census she is identified as Bulah Pressly, a 6 year old boarder in the home of Rushing[sic] and Sarah E Rushing.[2] One of her granddaughters knew she was adopted but had no other details.[3]

Beulah and Adam Columbus Baucom were married on 5 Dec 1920 in Union County, North Carolina.[4][5] The couple had three children, Butler Columbus Baucom (1921-1924) who died as a child,[6] Joseph Adam Baucom (1925-1987), [7] and [private daughter (1920's - unknown)].

By the time the 1940 US Census was taken, the family had moved to Morganton, Morganton Township, Burke County, North Carolina, where Adam was working as a "leather hanger" in a tannery. In addition to Beulah and Adam, a daughter, a son, and Buelah's adoptive parents, Reason W. and Sarah E. Rushing, were living in the household.[8]

Beulah died on 29 Mar 1972 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.[9]
