The United States Census, 1940[8] found Nan Eubanks, a 61 year old married white female, born in Arkansas, living in Russellville, Illinois Township, Pope County, Arkansas. (She was likely still widowed and 'married' was a mistaken enumeration.) With her were her single daughter Eula and a grandson, Bill. Eula was enumerated as widowed but with the same last name; however, records seem to show she did not marry for the first time until 1941. Nan and Eula had no employment listed and had had 8 years of school; Bill had attended school in the past year, had 6 years of school, and was employed as a mechanic for the NGA. None of the three reported any income in 1939.
