The United States Census, 1880[1] found David H Rushing, a 37 year old married white male, born in Arkansas to parents born in Tennessee, living in Martin Township, Pope County, Arkansas. With him was his wife Martha and their four children. The youngest, Nancy, was born in August of the previous year and enumerated as 11/12 of a year old. David was a farmer, and the oldest three children were in school.

The United States Census, 1920[6] found Nannie 'Eubank', a 40 year old widowed white female, born in Arkansas to parents born in Arkansas, living on her own farm (mortgaged) in Martin, Pope County, Arkansas. With her were five of her six children. Every member of the family could read and write and the youngest three children were in school. Her employment was listed as "Farmer" and all her children's as "Farm laborer, home farm".

The United States Census, 1930[7] found Nann Eubanks, a 50 year old widowed white female, born in Arkansas to parents born in Arkansas, living as a renter at 909 West E Street, Illinois Township, Pope County, Arkansas. The owner of the house was enumerated separately, Alice Krebs, a 63 year old widow. With Nan in the household were her son and daughter and her son's wife. Nan had no employment listed, but her son was a driver for a transfer company and her single daughter was a housekeeper in a private home.

The United States Census, 1940[8] found Nan Eubanks, a 61 year old married white female, born in Arkansas, living in Russellville, Illinois Township, Pope County, Arkansas. (She was likely still widowed and 'married' was a mistaken enumeration.) With her were her single daughter Eula and a grandson, Bill. Eula was enumerated as widowed but with the same last name; however, records seem to show she did not marry for the first time until 1941. Nan and Eula had no employment listed and had had 8 years of school; Bill had attended school in the past year, had 6 years of school, and was employed as a mechanic for the NGA. None of the three reported any income in 1939.
