Alexander Fraser Russell was born in Capetown, South Africa on 21 October 1876. He was the son of John Monro Russell and Nancy Eliza Elder.
Fraser married Winifred Isabel Robertson on 5 October 1904.
Fraser served as governor of Southern Rhodesia three times.
He died, aged 76 years, in 1952
