James Russell was born in about 1853 in West Tisted, Hampshire.

James became a coal merchant.

James married Elizabeth Jane Stevens on 15 May 1880 at Virginia Water, Surrey, England, United Kingdom ^[1]. FreeBMD has this as Windsor dirtict.

James died on 22 Jan 1922, aged 69, at his home in Lower Manor Road, Farncombe, Godalming. He was buried on the 26th in Nightingale Cemetery, Godalming, in the consecrated section.
