Robert was born on May 20, 1854 in New Brunswick. He was a son of Angus Russell and Jane (Urqhart) Russell. His father was a farer and fisherman in Glenelg Parish, Northumberland County.[1]
He likely did not have much schooling, not uncommon of the era in New Brunswick. In 1871, only the children below age 14 in the household were listed as going to school.
By 1881, he was living at a boarding house in Newcastle, run by Nancy Russell (Perhaps a relative).
He married Agnes Dickson between 1881 and 1891. She was a daughter of William Dickson and Elizaabeth (Gilliss) Dickson of Napan.[2][1]
They raised a family and lived at Loggieville where Robert worked as a Carpenter, Undertaker and Mill Owner.[1]
Robert passed away on May 4, 1926 in Loggieville, New Brunswick at the age of 71. He was interred at the Pine Grove Cemetery.[1][3]
