Biography

He was the son of Alice and Sir Ralph Russell. He was born on the 2nd of Feb 1356.^[1]He was married twice, firstly to Isabel Childrey the daughter of Sir Edmund Childrey.^[1]He married a second time Joan Dauntsey the daughter of Elizabeth Beverley and Sir John Dauntsey sometime before 1412.^[1]He died on the 27th of June 1416 and was buried at Dyrham.^[1]

Joan (or Katherine) Stradling, married (as his 1st wife) Maurice Dennis (or Denys), Esq., son and heir of Gilbert Dennis, Knt., by his 2nd wife, Margaret, elder daughter of Maurice Russell, Knt. He was born about 1410. They had two sons, Walter, Knt., and John. He married (2nd) before 1 Nov. 1437 Alice Poyntz, daughter of Nicholas Poyntz, Esq., by his 2nd wife, Elizabeth, daughter of Henry Hussey, Knt. They had three sons, Hugh, Maurice, and Francis, and four daughters, Isabel (wife of Reyborne Mathew), Jane, Emma, and Alice. Maurice Dennis, Esq., was living in 1466. His wife, Alice, was living in 1473.

Joan (or Jane) Dauntsey, born about 1396. She married (1st) before 1412 (as his 2nd wife) Maurice Russell, 3rd son but eventual heir of Ralph Russell, Knt., by his wife, Alice. He was born 2 Feb. 1356. They had one son, Thomas. Sir Maurice Russell, died 27 June 1416. His widow, Joan, married (2nd) before 8 July 1418 John Stradling, 2nd son of William Stradling, Knt., , by Isabel, daughter and heiress of John Saint Barbe. They had two sons, Richard and Edmund. Sir John Stradling died in 1435. His widow, Joan, married (3rd) after 17 July 1437 John DeWall (or DeWale), Esq. Joan DeWall, Esq., died shortly before 16 March 1453. His widow, Joan, died in 1457.
