Eugene was a travelling suit salesman before settling in Midland, Texas to work in a men's clothing store. Eugene and Elizabeth remained in Midland until his retirement when they moved back "home" to Decatur. In about 1982, when my grandmother was in quite poor health, my mother (Jeanne) and I went by train to move them into my parents' home in Siler City. After about a year there, they were moved to a small private nursing home out in the country near Siler City.
He died at the nursing home or possibly at the Siler City hospital from either COPD or an aneurysm.
