Biography

JOHANN VALENTINE RUST, (aka Johann Valentine Rost), son of Valentine Rust and Margaret Marburger, was born about 1729 in Palatinate, Germany or perhaps Pennsylvania. [1]

Johann Valentine Rost may have been the same person who came to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania aboard the ship, "Queen", on 7 October 1751.[2] [3]

Johann Valentine Rust married Catherine Bowman, said daughter of Henry Bowman. Catherine is said to have been born about 1733.

Margaret (Marburger) Rust of Windsor Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania died about 1764 when her son, Johann Valentine Rust of Tulpehocken Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania, was appointed administrator of his mother's estate on 11 February 1764. One Valentine Rost appears on the Berks County, Pennsylvania Tax List of 1764 and 1765. It is believed that soon after his mother's death he removed to Shenandoah County, Virginia, where he was a landowner of 218 acres.

Then in 1789, he was found as a landowner of 140 acres in Rockingham County, Virginia.[4]

He passed away about 1805 in Berks County, Pennsylvania...another researcher says he died in Rockingham County, Virginia, and yet another says Shenandoah County, Virginia. [5]
