Schenkel, 67, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis. Mrs. Schenkel, a 1962 graduate of Angola High School, had worked as a realtor since 1985 when she joined Johnson Realty. She opened J.B. Realtors in 1989 and later opened a Re/Max office in Huntington. She also worked with Matt Capozza Appraisal for six years. She was named "realtor of the year" in 1987 and in 1991. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Forks of the Wabash Chapter of the American Business Women's Association, a member and past president of the Huntington County Board of Realtors, a former United Way co-chairman and 4-H leader in Polk Township, and a former member of Women of the Moose Chapter 255 in Huntington. She was born Jan. 27, 1944, in Fort Wayne to James H. and Greba L. Cox Rust. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rex Schenkel. Survivors include a son, Christopher A. Schenkel, of Sanibel, FL; two daughters, Karrie Leist and Alisa Schenkel, both of Huntington; a sister, Sandra K. Chase, of Bryan, OH; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Calling is Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 4 p.m., at Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. A service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson St. Rev. John Pfister will officiate. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Preferred memorials are gifts to the Indiana Organ procurement Organization or to the family, both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN 46750.}
