Biography

George Herman Ruth, Sr. is the father of legendary Major League Baseball Player, Babe Ruth.

Harman J Rueth was enumerated at Baltimore No. 6 Post Office, 17th Ward Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Maryland for the June 10, United States Census, 1870. He was noted as born 1869-1870 in Maryland as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are male John A Rueth, female Mary Rueth, female Elizabeth Rueth and male John A Rueth.^[1]

Geo Ruth was enumerated as son at Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland for the June 5, United States Census, 1880. He was noted as at school, born 1872 in Maryland and single as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are self John Ruth, wife Mary Ruth, son John Ruth, daughter Elizabeth Ruth, daughter Augusta Ruth and daughter Mary Ruth.^[2]

George H Ruth was enumerated as head of the household at 341 South Woodyear Street, Precinct 11 Baltimore city Ward 20, Baltimore County, Maryland for the June 8, United States Census, 1900. He was noted as born January 1871 in Maryland and had been married for six years. He was a lightning rod agent and an owner. Also included in the household are wife Kate Ruth and son George H Ruth Jr. as seen in an image of the original census.^[3]

George H Ruth was enumerated as head of the household at 400 Conway Street, Baltimore Ward 22, Baltimore (Independent City), Maryland for the May 2, United States Census, 1910. He was noted as born 1871 in Maryland and had been married for seventeen years. He lists his occupation as a proprietor of a saloon and he is a renter as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Catherine Ruth, son Gaorge H Ruth Jr., daughter Mary Ruth and brother William E Ruth.^[4]
