John Rutherford is actually Martina's father and he has been DNA tested on Y23andme. I am trying to download the raw data and then import it over to Wikitree. Dad has also been tested on FTDNA but we are still awaiting results. Sorry for the confusion. We are new to this but very curious as to his his ancestory.

My family research indicates that an Ebenezer Rutherford was an officer (lieutenant) in the military of Drum and Newbliss and was dismissed about 1832 for taking part in an Orange Day parade. He emigrated with his family soon after and eventually ended up in Perth County Ontario. We believe he is the son of a Rev. Samuel Rutherford minister of Drum and Newbliss. So he may be the missing son. Samuels father based on the History of Scottish congregations was John (minister and teacher)
Yes, there's a lot of details still to be uncovered. This is a rich historical time for this part of Ireland and one that's quite captivating. Many great charismatic leaders came from this time period and the Rutherford men were completely in the thick of it. I have many tidbits from contacts made in the area, but none unearth the identity of Rev. Samuel's (d1801) first 2 sons.... not yet! Rev. Samuel had a Will which they say was destroyed in the fires. But one would think Rev. John, his son, would have this or have made some mention of his brothers. His line lives on in Ohio. Daughter, Helena, her line also lives on. I think I might have to focus on this again as it's incredibly fascinating. Cheers! Tina

Thank you John for sharing. Looks like we're looking for the same Rutherfords? I'll be putting up our Rutherford line little by little. In the mean time, please take a look at: http://www.hunthill.4t.com/index.html

John - you need to post this question in the G2G forum and ask for genealogy help if you want to get answers from the Wikitreers.
Does anyone know the names of the sons of Rev. Samuel Rutherford B1730 - D1801, Ordained in Newbliss, Co. Monaghan, Ireland. I know Rev. John Rutherford of Ballydown, but there are 2 others. Need info on them. I also need the father of Samuel, who was a Schoolmaster in Newbliss. References in some books say the father was Aaron Rutherford, and Samuel was his 3rd eldest son. Does anyone have any true verification on this?

Hi John,

yes, ancestors research can be frustrating sometimes. Have you asked for any help on our G2G Forum ? If not, you should. Other wiki genealogists could give you leads or the solution :)

Guy

Hello John,

While visiting your profile, I noticed you have been a member of Wikitree for over a month, received messages from Greeters and Mentors.

I also noticed the small amount of contributions to your family tree.

Did you experiment navigation problems or ancestors search difficulties ? Do you need help ?

Would be glad to help in any way .

Wish you a great journey on Wikitree.

Guy - Wikitree Mentor and Leader
