Mary was born in 1884. She was the daughter of James Rutherford and Kate Husking. She passed away in 1945.
"OBITUARY MRS. M. A. M. SMITH A well known resident of South Lismore, Mrs. Mary Ann Matilda Smith (60), died at her home, 53 Casino Street, early on Saturday morning. Mrs. Smith was born at Oakland, on the Richmond River. She lived at Swan Bay for a number of years, but for the past 30 years had resided in Lismore. She is survived by a widower, one son, Harold (Lismore), two daughters, Mrs. V. Webb (Grafton) and Mrs. R. Gregor (Lismore), and one adopted son, Mr. R. Neilson (Lismore). The funeral took place yesterday afternoon. The remains were conveyed to St. David's Presbyterian Church, South Lismore, where Rev. James Beatty conducted a service, and also officiated at the graveside. The pall bearers were Messrs. H. Smith, R. Gregor, C. Boyter, E. Boyter, S. Rutherford and G. Rutherford. The wreaths were carried by Messrs. J. Hambley, F. Weigall, A. Duley, K. Gorton and R. Gordon. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Will Riley and Son."
