His Death Notices read:
"RUTHERFORD, Robert Bruce - May 1, 1949 at RGH, Concord, dearly beloved husband of Maud Rutherford on 27 Oswald Street, Campsie, aged 40 years.
RUTHERFORD, Robert Bruce - May 1, 1949 at RGH, Concord, dearly beloved son of Bruce and Amy Rutherford of 51 Colin Street, Lakemba and loved brother of Thelma, Eric, Alf, Colin, Ron, Daphne and Ken, aged 40 years." He was cremated at Rookwood.
