My great great grandparents and grandparents lived in Perry County, Alabama. I know nothing about where they moved from or came from originally although with the name Rutherford, I am confident it was Scotland.

Hi Carolyn, and thank you for upgrading, 😊

I am very pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

It is best to start with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

You mentioned that you don’t know much about your family tree yet. I assume you are new to genealogy. No problem! Every genealogist is a beginner at some point.

Take your time, keep track of sources and ask questions. Check here for tips.

Happy tree climbing

Thank you. My grandson told me about this site. I am anxious to find out more specifically about my paternal relatives

Hi Carolyn

If you upgrade, you will be able to add your ancestors to WikiTree, if they are not here already. There is no cost. Just go to your profile and click Upgrade near the words Guest Member, then answer five questions.

The g2g forum is full of friendly helpful people, so you may want to post there is you have any ancestors you find difficult to research.
