Wilhelm Johann Friederich Rütz was born on 27 August 1861. [1] His parents were Johann Christian Friedrich Rütz and Johanna Maria Friederike Woderich. [1] He was baptized on 8 September 1861 in Alt Käbelich, Mecklenburg, Germany. [1]

He and his family departed from Hamburg, Germany for the United States on 26 October 1872 on the ship Germania. [2] They arrived in New York on 13 November 1872. [3]

He appeared in the 1880 US Census in Green Garden, Will County, Illinois. [4] He was living with his mother Johanna, his stepfather Henry Quitmeier, his stepbrother William Quitmeier, his siblings Louise and August, and a farm laborer William Meisterling. [4] He was working on a farm. [4]

He married Wilhelmine Knoop on 24 March 1887 in Peotone Township, Will County, Illinois. [5] They had the following children:

He appeared in the 1900 US Census in Peotone Township, Will County, Illinois. [6] He was living with his wife Minnie, their children Emelia, Annie, and William, his mother-in-law Minnie Knoop, and a farm laborer Hirman Radigk. [6] William was a farmer. [6]

He appeared in the 1910 US Census in Peotone Township, Will County, Illinois. [7] He was living with his wife Minnie, their children Emily and William, and his mother-in-law Minnie Knoop. [7] He was a farmer. [7]

He appeared in the 1920 US Census in Peotone Township, Will County, Illinois. [8] He was living with his wife Minnie and his mother-in-law Minnie Knoop. [8]

He appeared in the 1930 US Census in Peotone Village, Will County, Illinois. [9] He was living with his wife Minnie. [9]

He appeared in the 1940 US Census in Peotone, Will County, Illinois. [10] He was living with his wife Minnie. [10]

He died on 28 November 1946 in Symerton, Will County, Illinois. [11]

He was buried on 1 December 1946 at Peotone Cemetery in Will Township, Will County, Illinois. [11]
