Obit from the Worcester Telegram, Thursday March 18, 1972 page 38 (date of 18th seems wrong because burial records say he was buried on the 14th). John J. Ryan, 60 of 23 St. Paul St., died yesterday, about five hours after being stricken in his home. He was born in North Smithfield RI., a son of Thomas and Allen (should be Ellen) (Callahan) Ryan, and was a lifelong resident of Woonsocket, R.I., area. Mr Ryan was employed the past 11 years by Stamina Mills for Forestdale R.I., and before that, many years in the former Uxbridge Worsted Mills. He was a communicant of St. Paul's church.He leaves his widow, Mildred D. (Surowiec) Ryan; a son Joseph K. Ryan of Woonsocket, R.I.; two brothers, Joseph A. Quigley of New York City and Matthew A. Quigley of Uxbridge; a sister Mrs. Mary D. Moore of Providence, R.I. and two grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 8am Saturday from the Holt Funeral Home, with a High Mass at 9 in St. Paul's church. Burial will be in St. Paul's cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9am today and tomorrow. end of obit
Per family history - John was born a sickly child and was raised by the family of Bridget Callahan and Thomas Quigley. Supposedly had a brother but don't know the name or have proof yet.
