Details of Michael Ryan's birth are currently unknown.
MIchael Ryan of the parish of Castlereagh Street, Sydney, married Frances Shaughnessy of the parish of Pitt Street, Sydney, in St Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Sydney on 4 July 1842.[1] The witnesses were John Manix of Castlereagh Street, Sydney, and Mary Flannery of King Street, Sydney. Michael was able to sign his name whereas the bride and two witnesses all three signed with an "X".
When the death, in later years, of one of his daughters was registered, Michael Ryan's occupation was recorded as "Warder in Gaol".[2]
Family sources had reported that Michael died before his wife however he was the informant for the registration of her death.[3] He was residing in Darlinghurst at the time. It is not known when or where he died but it was certainly not before 1866.
