Lucinda Ryan was born in 1879. She is the daughter of David Ryan and Mary Randall.

The 1880 U.S. Census for Gasconade, Wright, Missouri, records a large family in the Ryan household. Thomas Ryan, the 43-year-old head of household is listed as white, married, and a self-employed blacksmith who was born in Tennessee. It further states that his father was born in Tennessee while his mother was born in Kentucky. His first wife, Emily Stephens, died in 1876. Mary Ryan is listed as his wife; she is 41 yrs, born in Tennessee. His children with Emily are listed: Samuel Ryan, son, 21 yrs; born Tennessee; Elizabeth Ryan (nicknamed Betty), daughter, 19 yrs, born Kentucky; Senah A. Ryan, daughter, 18, born Kentucky; William Ryan, 15 yrs, born Kentucky; Mary Ryan, daughter, 13 yrs, born Kentucky; Rachel Ryan, daughter, 11 yrs, born Kentucky; Dnora Ryan (Drewry, probably a mistranslation), son, 9 yrs; born Missouri; Calvin, son, 8 yrs, born Missouri; and Alla M. Ryan, daughter, 4 yrs, born Missouri. Mary Ryan's daughter is listed next: Lucinda Ryan, 1 yr, born Missouri.
