Betty Rye is the daughter of Binkley Rye and Nettie Jackson Harris Rye. She was born in Palmyra, Tennessee. Ora Lee Rye (1896-1978)), Edna May Rye,(189-2002), Robert Rye (1904-1904), Robbie Pauline Rye (1906-1997) and Owen Everett Rye (1909-1970) are siblings. Nettie Stella Harris (1892-1992) is a half-sister.
