Biography

The Genealogica Welforum, written about 1123-1126, states that Rudolf of the Welf family married Ida von Ohningen, the daughter of Count Kuno with an unnamed daughter of Otto I 'the Great' Holy Roman Emperor. The Historica Welforum written about 1167-1174 states the same information but gives the unnamed daughter of Otto I a name, Richlint or Richlind.[1]

These sources were written at the earliest 150 years after the death of Otto I, and no sources contemporary to when he lived mentions Richlind and most modern sources agree that she can't be his daughter.[1] However there is a theory championed by Arnim Wolf, and Donald Jackman, that she is instead the granddaughter of Otto I, being the daughter of his son Liudolf, even though there are also no contemporary sources naming her as his daughter either.

The various theories around Richlind also are concerned with where her presumed husband, Kuno von Ohningen fits within the Konradiner family, although again there seems to be general acceptance that he is the same as Konrad, Herzog von Schwaben (Duke of Swabia).[1]

It is not clear that Richlind necessarily existed at all, but if she did as the wife of Kuno, then there were possibly six children of this marriage.

Research Notes

From Konrad von Schwaben's profile:

According to Wikipedia, the identity of his wife is debated as either Judith, daughter of Adalbert of Marchtal or Reglint (or Richlind), daughter of Liudolf, Duke of Swabia (and granddaughter of Emperor Otto I).[2]
According to Medlands, his wife is either Richlind, daughter of Emperor Otto I King of Germany & his second wife Adelais of Burgundy or the daughter of Liudolf, Duke of Swabia, son of Emperor Otto I.[3]

Sachsen-31 and Unknown-550285 appear to represent the same person because: These are the same person, Unknown is the preferred LNAB as her parentage is Unknown, and leaving it as Sachsen implies that we are accepting one theory over another, and that theory has a number of problems. See biography of Unknown-550285

Von Saschen-1 and Sachsen-31 are not ready to be merged because: There are another two profiles for this person and they should be merged into one with LNAB Unknown, given there is no clear evidence for who her parents were.
