The House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha in the original German) was not renamed to Windsor until 1917. That's why Edward VIII has a birth name of Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha (from when he was born in 1894) despite later being a Windsor.

why are the kings of windsor listed as 'Sachsen-Coburg_und_Gotha..shouldn't the windsors be windsor and the sachens et al be sachens et al...this is very confusing..there seems to be no order in all of this..doesn't matter whether they are german, english, norman or french..or am I way off base?..I pity the poor soul that is not a member that is trying to find how they are related to a king or aristocracy of any sort by seaching on WikiTree!...I think that there should be some type of method to the madness? Too many names that should be reserved for the bio section? The profile and bio is unsurpassed on this page..however I am referring to indexing of names..gosh I work hard just to find a king or queen..it seems to be too too much for the names of these individuals. Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha-37 and Windsor Duke of Windsor-1 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicate - same birth and death dates, locations, same titles, same family.
