Biography

Clark was born in 1793. He was the son of Benjamin Sackett and Elizabeth 'Betsey' Eldred.

Clark baptized at the Church of Christ, Warren, on 29 June 1800.

Clark Sacket served in the War of 1812 in Captain Seth Comstock's Company of Connecticut troops, enlisting on 13 September 1813 and being discharged on 1 November 1813.

In 1814, Clark came to Tallmadge where he had an uncle, Salmon Sackett, already established. There he met and married Cynthia Preston, daughter of David and Cynthia Preston on 2 May 1816. She died weeks after their marriage on 4 Jun 1816. Clark returned to Connecticut for a while but returned to Ohio in 1818.

He married Laura Melissa Aikins (or Akins) on 25 Nov 1821 in Tallmadge. They had nine children:

  3. Anna A Sackett married Chapman
  4. Edwin Sackett (b-1827)
  5. Benjamin Sackett (b-1829, d-1831)

  8. Charles H Sackett (b-1839)
  9. Darius P Sackett (b-1842)

Clark was buried at Tallmadge Cemetery.
