Biography

Margaret was baptized at St Peter in Thanet on 14 June 1590.?
She was probably the widow Margarett Jenkin who was buried at St John in Thanet on 17 December 1665.
Margaret was named as a beneficiary in her father's will made at St Lawrence in Thanet on 20 October 1624.
Margaret was named as a beneficiary in her brother Robert's will made at St John in Thanet on 16 February 1660.

Margaret's father left her a sum of £16 in his will, while her bachelor brother Robert left her a share (with sisters Alice, Helen, and Elizabeth) in an income of £10 to be paid half-yearly to her by her nephew Leonard Austen. Robert also left £39 to Margaret's six surviving children to be shared among them in specified amounts.

Beneficiaries: Sister’s son Leonard Austen of Woodnesborough near Sandwich, 4 small tenements & stables at Margate, 8 acres arable land at Bacon Dane now occupied by John Willson. Residue. Sister Alice, widow of William Robinson, sister Ellin, widow of James Owin, sister Margaret, widow of Daniel Jenkin, & sister Elizabeth wife of William Gillowe, to share equally £10 to be paid half yearly to them by Leonard Austen, & to the longest lived. Sister Alice’s 6 children, £6 each. Sister Ellin’s 6 children, £6 each.
