I read that someone in your family had the surname Reiner.

Reiner has two very different origins. It is either a German name (that is often written as Rainer), It means wise counsel, or an Ashkenazi name meaning pure, from the Yiddish rayn (rein).

My surname is Reiner. It is an Ashkenazi name in my case. My Y-haplogroup is R1a-Z93.
