Joseph was a leader in the American Revolution. On 7 April 1777, he joined Belden's Regiment of Militia, attached to General Wolcott's Brigade. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in Lieutenant David Smith's Company, and was discharged 19 May 1777, at Peekskill.[5][6]
The census of 1810 enumerates Joseph as living alone in Chatham, Middlesex, Connecticut.[8]
Joseph Sage passed away on 23 May 1812 at Portland, Middlesex, Connecticut. He was buried at Portland Burying Ground, Portland, Middlesex County, Connecticut.[9][10]

I found no source for a marriage to Jemina Eddy. Researchers, please check this out. Also, I did find records on Joseph's sons that indicate they were all born after 1780 (and therefore are Ruth Goodrich's children).
