Biography
Patricia was born in 1922. She passed away in 2001.
Mrs. Hollings, former First Lady of the State of South Carolina from 1958 to 1962 died Friday, February 16, 2001 in Charleston. Mrs. Hollings was born May 15, 1922 in Columbia, the daughter of John Haskell and VonEtta Milhous Salley. She graduated from Columbia High School, attended Converse College and the University of South Carolina, where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. As First Lady, she was instrumental in attracting new business to the state. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and La Sertoma where she became active in the Easter Seals Campaign and the Charles Webb Children's Center. Mrs. Hollings was recently awarded the Order of the Palmetto for service to the state as First Lady.
Surviving are her sons, Ernest Frederick Hollings, III of Kissimmee, Fla., Michael M. Hollings of Columbia; daughters, Salley Hollings of Charleston, Helen R. Reardon of Glennwood Springs, Colo.; grandchildren, Salley Hollings Seabrook, Patricia Salley Schwerdt, Steffani Conner Schwerdt, John Elliott Reardon, II, Dain Frederick Reardon, Patricia Hayne Reardon, Christopher Charles Milhous Hollings.
