Alfred Gardiner Greenwood, daughter of John and Mary Ann, was born at Ashfield in 1848. In 1872 Alfred Greenwood and Margaret Ann Salmons had been married for four years, having been married at Araluen in 1868. Margaret was born at Reidsdale in 1842. In 1872 Alfred and Margaret were living in Araluen, their two children, Annie and Alfred, aged two and one. Three more children, Mary, Katie and Rosetta, were born between 1875 and 1878. In 1872 Alfred Greenwood was listed in Greville's Directory as a carrier at Lower Araluen. On both his marriage certificate and his death certificate, Alfred was identified as a miner from Araluen. All of Alfred's and Margaret's children were born at Araluen. Margaret died in 1924 and is buried at Araluen. Alfred died in 1938 and is also buried at Araluen. [5]
