Quoted from an article in Table Talk (a Melbourne newspaper) in 1895:^[1]

"Burke also says that "the Cannings derived their lands at Foxcote from Agnes, daughter and co-heiress of John Salmon, through marriage with Thomas Canning, of Bristol, about 1425." Thomas and Agnes were the ancestors of Earl Canning, and Viscount Stratford de Radcliffe."
