Obituary

STUART, Florence Julia (age 95) passed away February 23, 2008 at the Moran Vista Assisted living in Spokane, WA. She was born July 4, 1912 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Edgar and Ida Buchannan Salter.

Florence grew up in Priest River, ID and moved to Spokane when she was in high school. She graduated from North Central High School of Spokane in 1930. Florence went to work for Newberry’s in downtown Spokane. She married Frank Stuart on February 14, 1933 in Spokane and they moved to Colfax in 1937. She became a homemaker until his death in 1971, when she went to work for the Whitman Health & Rehab Center in Colfax as a cook and caregiver. She lived at her home in Colfax until she was 91, when she moved to Spokane and stayed until her death. Florence loved to sew and go for walks. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Colfax Bridge Club.

Florence is survived by her children, Frank Stuart and his wife Bonny of Seaside, OR and Carol Fletcher of Spokane, WA; her 5 grandchildren, Jodi Pinkerton of Mead, WA, Julie Jennings of Spokane, WA, Robin Wooldridge of Olympia, WA, Joe Stuart of Seattle, WA and Scott Stuart of Longview, WA and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; 5 brothers and sisters and her parents.

There will be no services per her request. The family suggests memorials be made to the Hospice of Spokane. Bruning Funeral Home, Colfax, WA is caring for the family. ^[1]
