Major Richard Saltonstall married at All Hallows, Honey Lane, London, 4 July 1633 Muriel Gurdon, daughter of Brampton Gurdon, Esq. [1] They had three sons, Richard, Nathaniel, and Gurdon, and three daughters, Muriel, (wife of Edward Moseley, Knight), Abigail, (wife of Thomas Harley, Esq.), and Elizabeth, (wife of Hercules Horsely, Esq.).[1]

Richard immigrated with his father to Watertown, Massachusetts, New England in 1630 and returned to England in 1631, remaining for four years.[1] He returned to New England in 1635 with his wife Muriel and they settled at Ipswich, Massachusetts.[1] He visited Holland, and visited England several times.[1] He died at Hulme, Lancashire, England 29 April 1694. [1]
