English architect, responsible for the design of a number of country houses, castles and churches in the United Kingdom.
Major commissions included Keele Hall in Staffordshire, Thoresby Hall in Nottinghamshire. He repaired and carried out work on the castles at Norwich, Newark, Carisbrooke, Windsor and Alnwick. He undertook work at the Tower of London and built Peckforton Castle in Cheshire from scratch.
