As seen in the 1881 Canadian census,[1] John was 70 years of age, and Rebecca was 60, both consistent with their stated dates of birth above. They were both born in Ireland. They had kids living at home, the oldest of whom was 24, and the list does not include the son George Henry Sampe already attached to this profile. Given that he would have been 27, there is nothing unusual about that, and it reminds us that there may be more. The children in the census report, all born in Quebec:
Mary Jane, 24
Margaret, 22
Andrew, 19
Hannah, 17
William, 18
Son William died at 83 years of age, and his death record[2] confirms that his mother was born in Ireland.
