Biography

Sarah was born in 1868 in Michigan. She was the daughter of John Sample (1821-1896) and Mary (Voorhees) Sample (1838-1909). Her father was a farmer. [1] Their family visits appeared in the "Bancroft Notes" section of the Flint Journal. She was quite ill on 1 June 1910 and was visited by her son O. D. Maudlin.[2] Her daughter Edith and son-in-law Frank Haueisen visited in March 1911.[3] The Maudlins visited with Frank and Edith and with Frank's parents Mr. and Mrs. Henry Haueisen on Sunday, 23 April 1911. Mrs. Maudlin was visited by Mrs. Emory Lewis, Mrs. Wm. Miles, and Mrs. O. C. Maudlin (probably O. D. Maudlin) the same week.[4] Extended family visited on Sunday, 2 July 1911, to attend the funeral of a Bancroft girl Dorothy Davis.[5] They visited their son O. D. for a week in May 1912, and Sarah and O. D.'s wife Amina visited Sarah's daughter Edith Haueisen.[6]

Sarah passed away in 1934. Her cause of death was cancer of the liver. [7] She is buried in Fremont Cemetery, Bancroft, Michigan. [8]
