Biography

Mary was born in 1780. She is the daughter of James Sample and Christianna Taggart.

John Crawford and Mary Sample were married in about 1804.[1]. They had at least 11 children including Sarah Crawford (1822-1890). [2]

They lived in Pine Township, Allegheny, Pennsylvania in 1810 and 1830, according to corresponding United States Census data.[3][4]

Mary passed away in 1860. She probably was buried with her husband in the now-abandoned Wallace burial ground in Pine Township, although by 2019 they were supposed to be reinterred in the cemetery for the Old West Union Presbyterian Church on Warrendale Road in Pine Township, Allegheny, PA.[5]

From History of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania:

John and Mary (Sample) Crawford, born in this county at an early date.
