Footnote: 1850 Fed Mortality Census - Hancock Co., IL;childbirth

I have copies of two marriage records, dated 27 Sep 1832 from Jefferson co., IN, newest one says Staples, old one says Sample. There were Samples in KY, a Jacob Sample, on the Woodford County, KY tax rolls 1796-1799, was surity for Franklin Perry in a sheriff sale to John Gudgel, in 1826 Jefferson Co., IN. Franklin was the husband of John's sister in law Rebecca Harbison Perry.

Affidavit for pension application of Andrew Gudgel through deceased son John W. County of Adams / SS Rebecca P Jessup and Eleanor Cox. Being first duly sworn disposed and say that - of their own personal knowledge they are able to testify that Andrew Gudgel is the father of John W. Gudgel, decd, late a private in Co. No. 1 99th Regt. Ills Inf. Fils?, and that - the said John W. Gudgel left surviving issue no widow noted, or children and no mother. That his mother Elizabeth Gudgel died in Adams County, Ills, on the 29th day of June ss 1849. Affronts - further state that they have no interest - direct or interests in the judication of this claim for pension. Rebecca P Jessup Eleanor Cox Subscribed and sworn to before me this 5th day of October ss 1868, and I certify these affronts are credible witnesses and these signatures genuine and that I have no interest in the judication of this claim for pension. R. L. Hinckley J.P.
