NOTE
The fall of 1875 brought death to the door of Louis and Nancy. Three of their children died of Diptheria between September and October of that year, all dying within a couple of weeks of each other. There were no DPT vaccinations as there are today; and, they could only look on while each child came down with the dread disease and try in vain to nurse them back to health.
