Laurence Samson was baptised at Campton, Bedfordshire on 23 November 1576.[1][2][3] Laurence's parents are not listed on the baptism record, however, John Sampson of Campton "is the only father shown to have been having children baptized at Campton in the proper period" and is the probable father of Laurence.[1]
He is likely the "Lawrence" Samson who married Mary Shabery at Cranfield, Bedfordshire on 2 June 1601.[1][4] As Cranfield is about 20 miles from Campton, this marriage was uncertain due to the distance between towns. However, a burial at Campton on 3 December 1607 of "a stranger being father to Laurence Sampson's wife dwelling at Cranfield", confirms this marriage.[citation needed]
Laurence and Mary had the following sons, all baptized at Campton:
Laurence's date and place of death are unknown.[1] A 9 September 1620 burial record for Lawrence Sampson was found in Bedford, Bedfordshire[5] - this may or may not be him. Bedford is 10+ miles from Campton.
