During the 1930 United States Census, 1. Victor R Samuelson (age 36, born in MN), was living in Vasa, Goodhue, Minnesota, with his wife, 2. Myrtle A Samuelson (age 31, born in MN), and their children,

3. Vernald R Samuelson (Son, age 3, born in MN)

4. Myron J C Samuelson (Son, age 1, born in MN)

And,

5. Bernard Hedin (Hired man, male, age 15, born in MN)

Victor and Myrtle are renting their home located in Goodhue, MN, and they own a Radio. Victor was age 29 when he first married, and Myrtle was age 25. Victor, Myrtle and Bernard can read and write. Both of Victors parents were born in Sweden, Myrtle's father was born in MN, and her mother in Sweden. Victor's occupation is "Farmer" on "General Farm" and he is an Employer, Bernard is "Laborer" on "General Farm". Victor is a vetran of the WW.

Highest school grade completed for Myrtle was 8th, Verald completed 7th, and Myron completed 8th, and, hired hand, Bernard, completed 8th grade. The family lived in the same home in 1935. Victor's occupation is "Farmer" on "Own Account", Charlie is "Retired Farmer", and Bernhard is "Hired Hand". Bernhard reports his 1939 annual wages to be $360. Verald and Myron attend school.

Myron John Charles Samuelson, age 83, a lifelong resident of Vasa Township, died peacefully on Wednesday morning, November 23, 2011 at the Augustana Health Care Center in Hastings, where he has been residing for the past year.

Myron was born on November 4, 1928 in Red Wing, the son of Victor and Myrtle (Johnson) Samuelson, and continued to live and farm on the family farm in Vasa Township throughout his life. He graduated from the Cannon Falls High School, and later married Arlene M. Hanson on September 22, 1950 at the First Lutheran Church in Red Wing. Myron was a lifelong member of Vasa Lutheran Church, and was devoted to his wife and family. He was married for nearly 56 years when his wife, Arlene passed away on September 2, 2006.

Myron loved to farm, and especially enjoyed spring and fall when he could be in the fields and drive his tractor! His favorite tractor was the John Deere 3010, which he purchased in 1963 and still has. He also enjoyed hunting and joking around.

He is survived by his three sons, Bob (Randi), Gary (Lorrie) and Dennis (Tammy), all of Cannon Falls; seven grandchildren, Andrea (Brian) Mandelkow, Venessa (Jason) Mandelkow, Megan, Amber, Amanda, Kaitlin and Michael Samuelson; five great-grandchildren, Malena, Miranda and Marissa Mandelkow, Nolan and Clara Mandelkow; sister-in-law, Elaine Samuelson of Red Wing; aunt, Clara Samuelson of Cannon Falls; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arlene; and brother, Vernald on January 27, 2011.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 26 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation from 1-2 p.m., at Vasa Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kristi Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Robert Swanson, Rick Samuelson, Curt Beissel, Ken Hedeen, Jason and Brian Mandelkow. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to Myron's many close friends, neighbors and family for their support and love over the years.
