Biography

Wiliam H. Sanburn was born in Waterloo County, Canada West in 1866. He was the son of Wm Sanborn and Christina Wencil. He moved to Michigan with his parents around 1874. He married Catherine Kuemin in Leelanau, Michigan in 1903.

William H. Sanborn. 92, of R, 3, West Bay Shore Road, died at 11:00 p.m. Monday at the residence of his daughter after a brief illness. Mr. Sanborn was born November 18, 1866. in Ontario, Canada. He came to Leelanau county and lived there until 1903. He then moved to Sault Ste. Marie where he lived until 1918 when he moved back Traverse City to live until I949 when he moved to his daughter's home. He was a carpenter by trade all his active life, and he was a member of St. Francis church. Mrs. Sanborn preceded him in death on September 26, 1958. Surviving are three daughters, Sister M. Harriet. O. P. of College, Grand Rapids, Mrs. J. H, Bennett of Detroit, and Harriett Sanborn of R. 3, this city: three sons, Robert of Flint, William of San Francisco. Calif., and James J. of U.S.31 North this city; and 22 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be said at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday from St. Francis Catholic church with the Rev. Father Joseph E. Kohler as celebrant. Burial will be in the family lot in St. Michaels cemetery at Buttons Bay.^[1] The Rosary will be recited Wednesday from the Martinson funeral home in this city, where the body reposes.^[2]
