When Orvil Sleeth Sanborn was born on December 27, 1895, in Lowe, Kansas, his father, William W Sanborn, was 45 and his mother, Barbara Sleeth, was 42. He married Dora Jane Sallee on December 20, 1920, in Sedan, Kansas. They had three children during their marriage. He died on December 1, 1970, in Sedan, Kansas, at the age of 74, and was buried in the Greenwood Cemetery there.

Orvil Sleeth Sanborn served his country in World War, enlisting in the US Army. He served with Company G, 353 Infantry, 89th Division and was discharged as a Sergeant.
