A Life Well Lived- Obituary of Maria de la luz Salinas

Our Dear Mother, Maria De La Luz Salinas, wife of Juan Nino Salinas of McMinnville, Oregon was a wonder, a marvel in her passion for giving. For the past 83 years she shared her joy for life with her family, friends and was a devoted member of St James Catholic Church.

Her final gift was one of spirit to the Lord when she passed on to Heaven

As her 8 children, we want to share the gift of her life with you.

Maria was born on January 1st, 1930 in Acambaro, Guanajuato Mexico the perfect day for a women who would give so much to this world. The oldest of thirteen children, she came from humble beginnings;

Known to all as “Madrina". Our mom was a kindhearted, gracious and loving wife, mother, friend who touched all with her boundless optimism. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends and community carried her through the end of her life.

Even though her family and many commitments took up a good portion of her day, she still managed to find time to have fun, watch her novellas, go dancing and make homemade gifts for everyone she loved.

She also loved cooking and much of her life was spent in and around the kitchen preparing her husbands, children and grandchildren's favorites homemade tortillas, frijoles and arroz, much time and love was spent and just when we thought she was done she cooked a little more and somehow we managed to eat all and there always seemed to be enough for everyone.

There was a magnificent in the ways she approached every thing in her life, especially her role as a mother. Her 8 children all so different, yet she loved them all the same she gave each one unconditional love. Her love made us feel unique and special. Now the Lord has called her home and we are certain she is cooking her famous tortillas in Heaven.

She leaves behind her love of her life of 62 years Juan N. Salinas and her 8 children: Elva Salinas of McMinnville, Minnie Salinas of Canby, John Salinas and his wife Janet from McMinnville, Alma Delia Salinas from Tigard, Arturo Salinas and his wife Becky from Aloha, Irasema Barnes and her husband Bruce from Las Vegas, Nevada Cesar Salinas from McMinnville, and Anabel Salinas from Hillsboro, Oregon.

She also leaves behind her immediate family from Mexicali, Mexico and San Diego, California and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews to name.

The Salinas family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support.

Obituary written in honor of our beloved mother. It is our tribute to her memory which will be carried on in her legacy of love which is now in each of us the lives she formed and touched by her love.
