Biography

There are different theories about William Lord (the patriot's) wife. Charles Perry Lunsford believes Milliford Whiting, whose marriage to her was recorded with a date of 1796, to be the mother of all of the Lord children, but the older tradition has Amelia Sanders has his first wife. Since both had the nickname of "Milly," uncovering the truth may not be possible. I cannot find anything to prove against a first marriage to Amelia "Milly" Sanders (and daughters and granddaughters are named Amelia, not Milliford), who could have easily died prior to a later marriage to Milliford Whiting in Georga (also known as "Milly). Although Lunsford has an extensive explanation for why the marriage is recorded in GA at such a late date (believing Whiting is the mother of all of the children), the presence of a first wife simply seems to be more plausible, in my opinion. I will certainly submit to documentation otherwise.
