Biography

The 1860 Census lists George as a Tanner and Margaret has having an occupation (not legible). Their house is worth $1600, the most modest on the page. George is listed as a Tanner in the 1870 and 1880 Census as well. This was an odoriferous trade, often relegated to the edge of town to reduce the smell.

In the 1855 NY Census, they have a boarder and a servant listed as part of the household.

George and Margaret are buried side-by-side in Ephratah Rural Cemetery.
